The beautiful Maggie Nixdorf from our session at South40 Farm earlier this year. South40 has a small pond and dock we used to create this “lakeside” look. Maggie’s expression here is amazing with a small smile that has deeper emotion underneath. (yeah, she crushed it). I toned the image in Camera Raw with some orange in the highlights and teal in the shadows.

Here’s a case where I brought the color back to one of my classic Hollywood style portraits. I think the color version works better than my original black and white process in this case. Of course Katie looks amazing either way so I started off way ahead with her just being in the shot.

With the snow coming down overnight, it seems like the perfect time for a “Fake Fur Friday” post (which I’m just now making up). During our shoot at Graduate Nashville, Stephanie broke out this white fur coat for a few shots. I couldn’t really find a space I like for it until we came inside from the second floor terrace. Once inside I pulled the white curtains (behind the main ones) closed and we had instant “white out” from the bright sunlight outside.
